Are the musical forces that we grew up with still relevant and effective in Salvation Army worship and service today?

We consider the vibrant ministry of musical forces at the Kokomo Citadel we grew up in (and were a part of). 
Should we continue to fight to keep those groups alive or should we capitulate to the Praise Band.? 
How do we invigorate or reinvent how those forces move forward today?
